Ice Core as a Time Cupsule for Environmental Information
| Ice core signals are
reflected from the vaious kinds of materials. Various materials on the Earch are transported to Antarctica. The materials are accumulated, frozen, and reserved in Antarctic ice sheet. On the 1st Dome Fuji project, we successed 2503-m depth ice core drilling, and reconstruct global environmetal changes for 320,000 years. Antarctic ice sheet is a "Time Cupsule" which has information of ancient globe environment. |

Crystallized ancient atmosphere：Clathrate
hydrate The snow on the surface sink into the ice sheets with the increase of the density and the decrease of the permeability, and finally change into ice. Ice include a lot of bubbles, and the bubbles change into specific crystals "Clathrate hydrate" owing to the high pressure in the deep part of ice sheets. Because the number of the clathrate hydrate reflects the temperature of the ice sheet, it attracts the attention as the signal of past climate.  Snow ＜100m <
