Antarctic Syowa MST/IS Radar (PANSY) Program
|
An MST/IS radar can measure three
dimensional wind velocities in the lower and
middle atmospheres as well as plasma parameters
in the ionosphere. It is a very powerful tool for
quantitatively understanding the linkage between
the upper and lower atmospheres. With an aim to
have the first MST/IS radar in Antarctica at Syowa
Station, we have achieved development works in
the basic radar technologies, antenna structures,
and onsite survey of the antenna field.
